Emily DeForest is a New York City based actress, director and creator who was born and bred in Houston, Texas.
With a BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Emily moved to NYC in 2017.
Emily's focus has been on collaboration with emphasis on community building.
In January 2019, Emily founded and curated a year long art zine, Second Thought Collective, in which she showcased and interviewed artists of all mediums from all over the US.
Emily wrote, produced, and starred in her first short film, Hi, Mom, a film about the ever enduring struggles of being a 20 something in existential crisis.
In the fall of 2019, Emily DeForest and Cricket Brown, hosted their first 24 Hour Play Festival, in which they brought together 20 theatre artists and made some wild theatre magic under a full moon.
In November 2019, Emily began her monthly performance collaboration with the I Don't Wanna See That Artist Collective, which has ignited her love for performance art. The collaboration continues today!
In 2020, Emily directed her first short, 11:11, starring comedian and fellow UNCSA alum Ashley Austin Morris.
